Metaheuristics for the linear ordering problem with cumulative costs

چکیده
The linear ordering problem with cumulative costs (LOPCC) is a variant of the well-known linear ordering problem, in which a cumulative propagation makes the objective function highly non-linear. The LOPCC has been recently introduced in the context of mobile-phone telecommunications. In this paper we propose two metaheuristic methods for this NP-hard problem. The first one is based on the GRASP methodology, while the second one implements an Iterated Greedy-Strategic Oscillation procedure. We also propose a post-processing based on Path Relinking to obtain improved outcomes. We compare our methods with the state-ofthe-art procedures on a set of 218 previously reported instances. The comparison favors the Iterated Greedy – Strategic Oscillation with the Path Relinking post-processing, which is able to identify 87 new best objective function values.

A revisit of a mathematical model for solving fully fuzzy linear programming problem with trapezoidal fuzzy numbers
In this paper fully fuzzy linear programming (FFLP) problem with both equality and inequality constraints is considered where all the parameters and decision variables are represented by non-negative trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. According to the current approach, the FFLP problem with equality constraints first is converted into a multi–objective linear programming (MOLP) problem with crisp const...
متن کاملA Mathematical Optimization Model for Solving Minimum Ordering Problem with Constraint Analysis and some Generalizations
In this paper, a mathematical method is proposed to formulate a generalized ordering problem. This model is formed as a linear optimization model in which some variables are binary. The constraints of the problem have been analyzed with the emphasis on the assessment of their importance in the formulation. On the one hand, these constraints enforce conditions on an arbitrary subgraph and then g...
متن کاملA Memetic Algorithm for the Linear Ordering Problem with Cumulative Costs
This paper introduces an effective memetic algorithm for the linear ordering problem with cumulative costs. The proposed algorithm combines an order-based recombination operator with an improved forward-backward local search procedure and employs a solution quality based replacement criterion for pool updating. Extensive experiments on 118 well-known benchmark instances show that the proposed a...
متن کاملMetaheuristics for large-scale instances of the linear ordering problem
This paper presents iterated local search and great deluge trajectory metaheuristics for the linear ordering problem (LOP). Both metaheuristics are based on the TREE local search method introduced in Sakuraba and Yagiura, 2010 (Efficient local search algorithms for the linear ordering problem, International Transactions in Operational Research 17, pp. 711–737) that is the only method ever appli...
متن کاملResource Constrained Project Scheduling with Material Ordering: Two Hybridized Meta-Heuristic Approaches (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Resource constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is mainly investigated with the objective of either minimizing project makespan or maximizing project net present value. However, when material planning plays a key role in a project, the existing models cannot help determining material ordering plans to minimize material costs. In this paper, the RCPSP incorporated with the material order...
